Women Build 2010
May 1 & 5-8
Women Build 2010 was a HUGE success! Thank you to Lowe's, our generous lunch sponsors, all of the speakers that took time out of their day to INSPIRE the women on site and all of the wonderful ladies that came out to help build homes for two deserving families, the Coverson family and the Smitherman family. Please check this page periodically for details on the dedication for both of the homes we worked on during the build. Also, if you were one of our very eager ladies that wanted to help out Saturday, May 15 please e-mail Cara Welch at carawelch@schabitat.org for more information. Thanks again to everyone who helped to make Women Build 2010 a success and SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!

About Women Build
Women Build is Habitat’s volunteer program for women who want to learn construction skills and make a difference by building homes and communities.
Women Build projects are regularly held by Habitat affiliates across the United States, and by Habitat organizations around the world. Women at these builds have furthered Habitat’s home-building mission by helping to construct more than 1,650 houses.
Women Build projects, fundraising campaigns and advocacy efforts have taken place in more than 30 countries. In many of these places, Habitat works directly through women’s savings groups to help build homes in partnership with families in their communities. Women are increasingly recognized as vital to development efforts in developing nations.
What is National Women Build Week?
Developed through the partnership between Lowe’s and Habitat for Humanity, National Women Build Week challenges women to devote at least one day to the effort to eliminate poverty housing.
The event is an initiative of Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build program, underwritten by Lowe’s. The mission of Habitat’s Women Build program is to enable U.S. and international affiliates to recruit, educate and nurture women to build—and advocate for—simple, decent and affordable houses in their communities. |
