GA Gives on Giving Tuesday: Southern Crescent Habitat for Humanity continues their mission to address the affordable housing crisis

JONESBORO, GA [November 5, 2019] —Southern Crescent Habitat for Humanity (SCHFH) is joining over 3,000 other Georgia nonprofits this month as we participate in Georgia Gives on Giving Tuesday. Georgia Gives is a statewide event run by the Georgia Center for Nonprofits that helps the community balance holiday “getting” with community “giving.”
Georgia Gives on Giving Tuesday will take place on December 3, 2019, which is the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. SCHFH is asking the South Metro Atlanta area community to come together to help low-to-moderate income families with homeownership and home repairs in Clayton, Fayette, and Henry counties. Last year, SCHFH came very close to raising $10,000 towards home repairs for senior citizens in need. Southern Crescent Habitat is geared up to meet and exceed their $10,000 goal this year!
“Georgia gives donations are important because we have several families in need of housing,” stated Cynthia E. Jenkins, CEO of Southern Crescent Habitat for Humanity. “With these funds and the help of our countless volunteers, we will focus on building throughout our communities. The shortage of affordable housing across this nation is sad and Southern Crescent Habitat is on a mission to address this crisis in the South Metro Atlanta area.”
All month long, SCHFH will share the impact of Giving Tuesday, past and present. We utilized last year’s funds from #GivingTuesday to repair the homes of three seniors in our service area. This year, we hope to help Fatoumata Kankarafou and her boys get one step closer to their dream home in Henry County. Check out her story here.
